Travis County Expo Center We finished the bike three-day before the Texas “Heat Wave” Car, Truck and Bike Show. This was a four-day event July 20-23 and the bike's first show. When we took the bike from the trailer the sunlight hit the paint and it was like a nova. The color burst through so brilliant it caught everyone’s attention. Three reporters for different cycle magazines fell on it with a flurry of camera shots. We estimate there was no less than a hundred spectators’ focus on the bike everyday. Now I must honestly say the final results of the event hit me like a BEST OF SHOW”! Truly I wanted to win and win big but this I did not anticipate. We are extremely proud of our accomplishments this year and thankful for all we accomplishments
I must emphasize that everything stated are my views of this event. It’s one sided and may not present that facts as seen by the opposing point of view. This was one of those shows that you enter into with high expectation, principal and faith that honor and fairness is the root core of the presenter and sponsors. Excuse me, “WRONG”! Let me begin with what apparently caught everyone’s eye “PROUDLY PRESENT… THE FIRST ANNUAL” Scrap n the Capital Car, Truck & Bike Show. The first annual should have alerted me to the fact that this group had no experience as a group. Somebody might have and even all of them could have but collective none of them have work this together. What the beef? Well there were several that come to mind when I think of this degradation. First the show is titled “Car, Truck, & Bike Show” yet they were ready for twenty categories of cars and trucks and only one for “bikes”. They even gave award for “Under construction” Damn what is the purpose of spending money, working hard and preparing your entry when some Joe blow can walk in with something he is to lazy to complete and walk away with an award? Those who spent good money and completed their vehicles are clearly not rewarded. The problem with these kinds of award is it destroys all the hard work and cash money honest participations put into making these events a joy. Another beef, judging without a score sheet, how in the hell are you going to determine who or whom had the greater tally? I noticed several vehicles each individually with an appraised value of from forty thousand to over one hundred fifty thousand dollars drive away from this show without a thanks of appreciation not to mention an award. The “Best of Show winner was a stock pick-up truck. You understood me! Not custom, stock with only the addition of some custom wheels. This dude drove away with a six-foot trophy! I stood in complete aggravation and watch three awards given for bikes (First, Second and Third Place). The same was true for the Car and Trucks, however the car and trucks were also broken down in nine other award-winning groups. True I was disgusted because I did not win but I could have understood this if the same consideration was given to my group. Hell I travel just as far, I know I spent as much if not much greater that over sixty per cent of the car & truck category winner. So, this is my conclusion, if you own a Show quality Car, Truck and especially a Bike and you come across a flyer or card that says Strictly Business, Avoid at all cost. You will not be judge fairly and you investment will not receive merit for your hard work and the expenses you have invested. “I know I will never present my Bike or Car in any event where the name Strictly Business is affiliated. I also know what there guy look like, so if I enter a show and discover that they are a part of that event I will withdraw my entry. You will not get the opportunity to miss use my investments in another award event.
